Update Nov 2014

My trip to the States was a mix bag!

Carol Weymuller was fun. I love staying with the Dietz family and have done for the last 8/9 years. The event however was a little disappointing to lose in the semi’s but I played well to beat Sarah Kippax in the 1st round and was playing well to be 2-0 up against Salma Hany. I then found myself in a messy match at 2-2 with a lot of lets. I came through to win in 5 games but I spent a lot longer on court than I needed to. The next day my match with Omneya was tough. She played well and I was a step slow. I lost 3-1 and had time to re-group before the US Open.

With that week I trained well. Danny arrived in Philly and we were in an apartment for the week with D.P (David Pearson) and Nick Matthew. I was feeling good in my preparation and played well in my 1st round v Syoli Waters and again in my last 16 v Sarah Kippax. In the quarters I had a tough draw v Nour El Sherbini. It was a good battle and I lost in a close 5 game match. Disappointing as I would have liked to go further in the event but US Squash are doing a brilliant job and I look forward to getting back to Drexel next year.

Home after a 3 week trip away and then out to Club La Santa for a training week and a couple of guest coaching sessions for them. I had a fantastic week and would recommend the facilities there to anyone wanting to train in the warm weather and brilliant facilities. For squash players it could become one of the places to go for a great week of training. Find out more here – www.clublasanta.co.uk

Home now and a few more weeks before I head to Canada for the Women’s World Team in Canada. The event looks like it will be a brilliant set up in Niagra-on-the-Lake and I hope England can bring the title home after silver medals in the last 3 events.
